--- Die Menschenrechtsorganisation Human Rights Watch hat eine Reihe von Vorwürfe gegen das Auftreten der US-Truppen in Afghanistan in einem jetzt veröffentlichten Report erhoben. Die Washington Post schreibt darüber: The report, which was made public Monday, describes such harsh conditions and treatment in U.S. military detention facilities as depriving prisoners of sleep and forcing them to remain in painful positions. Such practices are regularly condemned by U.S. officials when they occur in such countries as Burma, Iran and North Korea. The detailed, 59-page report covers nearly two years of U.S. military operations in Afghanistan aimed at hunting down and eliminating remnants of Islamic guerrilla groups. During that period, more than 1,000 Afghans have been detained, the report says, and three are known to have died in custody, without official explanation.
